Toro articulates his stance from the perspective of the artist, not the critic. Yet, as a performance artist—practicing a form of expression that is ephemeral and, consequently, inherently questioning and anti-institutional—he cannot help but be critical; such an attitude is inseparable from the mode of expression he employs. There is no other way. His gesture is, therefore, entirely consistent.”
