MINOTAUR

December 6, 2012
Quito, Ecuador

Location: Plaza San Francisco

Minotaur was an experimental performance project featuring an object known as the "Cage" and two performers: Damián Toro and Roberto Jaramillo (as the Minotaur). Bullfighting is a tradition in Ecuador, yet at the time this performance took place, the practice was banned in the city of Quito. Drawing on an old Quito legend, Damián toro developed two characters: the performer and the Minotaur. The action unfolded in Quito’s Plaza San Francisco. The performance consisted of two phases: one in the aforementioned plaza and another outside the Quito Bullring, located in a different part of the city.
